What is a Skin Peel?
Skin peels use a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those individuals with blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. The peels we currently use at ResultSPA are: The Obagi Blue Peel a specialized and safe form of TCA peel, Fruit Acid Peels by Cosmedix and Retinol based peels such as the Vitalize Peel by Skinmedica.
TCA (Tricloracetic Acid) Peels
We only use the Obagi Blue, TCA based peel due to its long history of safety and excellent results. This is our most corrective peel which will correct significant skin pigmentation issues. You will notice a visible improvement in your complexion. Your skin's appearance should continue to improve for the next four to six weeks, becoming firmer, clearer, smoother, healthier and more youthful looking.
Fruit Acid Peels
Fruit Acid Peels, such as glycolic and lactic are the mildest of the peel formulas and produce light peels. These types of peels can provide smoother, brighter-looking skin for people who can't spare the time to recover from a phenol or TCA peel. These peels may be used to treat fine wrinkling, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne. Fruit acid peels:
- Smoothes rough, dry skin and increases skin moisture
- Improves texture of sun-damaged skin
- Aid in acne control
- Can be mixed with bleaching agent to correct pigment problems
- Increases cell turnover
- A series of peels may be needed
Retinol Peels
The Vitalize Peel or Retinol Peel from SkinMedica is a unique blend of acids and vitamins which will help you achieve dramatic improvement in texture and tone, lessening of superficial lines and a healthier, more youthful look and feel with minimal “down time”.
